Vignobles Moreau

Château La Voûte belonging to the Moreau family exists since the end of the last century. Gaëtan started in 1997, with the cultivation of the vines. At that time, 1.4 hectares in the commune of Saint-Etienne de Lisse. This village is famous for owning one of the best terroirs of Saint-Émilion. Its vineyards are located next to prestigious vineyards of, Faugères, Fleur Cardinale, Pressac (Grands Crus Classés) and Valandraud (1st Grand Cru Classé). Gaëtan Moreau soon turns out to have the talent to make a good wine from this little conspiracy.

In 2004 he bought 0.85 hectares of vineyards under the village of Saint-Emilion, right next to the estate of Canon La Gaffelière, allowing him to make a second wine, La Clef de la Voûte. La Clef de la Voûte is located on a sandy loam soil, while Château La Voûte is located on a special bottom with limestone. Both wines consist of 100% Merlot.

In 2017 Gaëtan shows his qualities of winemaker and entrepreneur when he decides to invest and expand to make his winery an ergonomic winery!

Gaëtan Moreau works sustainably. examples of this are; he replaces the dead plants with young plants; he maintains his vines with fairly traditional techniques in Saint-Emilion to keep yield per hectare low: ebourgeonnage (the pruning of shoots through which fruit-bearing buds are removed), effeuillage (hand-defoliating), eclaircissage (thinning of the bunches in the summer) and vendanges manuelles, avec table de tri (manual harvesting, with sorting table); He carries malolactic fermentation in wooden barrels and takes three weeks.
